Leopard 2 Cope Cage Armor System
The Dengtai Leopard 2 Anti-Drone Cage is a purpose-designed cope cage armor system engineered specifically for Leopard 2 main battle tanks (A4, A5, A6, A7 variants). It provides critical overhead protection against FPV drones, loitering munitions, and top-attack shaped charges while preserving the tank's full combat capabilities including 360° turret traverse and main gun elevation.
Fabricated from Armox 500 armor steel plate, the cage uses a standoff distance of 300 mm from the hull and turret surfaces to defeat shaped charge jets by disrupting the standoff distance. The open-bar slat design allows crew hatches to operate freely, does not block vision devices or periscopes, and maintains access to all maintenance panels.
Weighing approximately 1,200 kg in its full configuration, the system is designed for field retrofitting by a two-person crew in under 4 hours using only standard tools. No permanent modifications to the tank hull are required — all mounting points utilize existing lifting rings, tie-down points, and bolt bosses on the Leopard 2 chassis.
