Overview
MIL-STD Certified Armor Welding for Military Vehicles
Dengtai provides full-service military vehicle armor welding backed by AWS D1.1, MIL-STD-1685, and ISO 3834-2 certifications. Our 24 certified armor welders specialize in welding military-grade armor steels including ARMOX 500, MIL-STD-1185 plate, Hardox, and proprietary ballistic alloys. From cope cage fabrication to complete hull armor assemblies, every weld is performed using qualified welding procedure specifications (WPS) and verified by independent NDT inspection.
Our facility spans 12,000 m2 with dedicated armor welding bays equipped with robotic GMAW/FCAW stations, submerged arc welding (SAW) for heavy plate, and precision GTAW for thin-gauge ballistic steels. We weld armor plate from 3 mm to 200 mm thickness using controlled low-hydrogen processes with preheat and interpass temperature monitoring. All welders recertify annually and maintain current credentials under NAVSEA and AWS 2.6 certification programs.
Quality assurance is integrated into every project. We follow a strict weld inspection protocol: 100% visual inspection per AWS D1.1 Table 6.1, plus magnetic particle testing (MT) on all fillet welds and ultrasonic testing (UT) on full-penetration groove welds. Our NDT lab is certified to MIL-STD-2035 and ISO 9712. Complete weld documentation including WPS, PQR, welder certifications, and NDT reports is delivered with every project.
