Dengtai provides MIL-SPEC certified armor plate welding services for military vehicles, ballistic enclosures, naval armor systems, and security infrastructure. Our welding shop is equipped with 12 robotic welding stations and 8 manual stations operated by AWS-certified welders with a minimum of 8 years of armor-grade experience.

We weld all common armor steel grades including AR400, AR500, MIL-12560, MIL-46100, Hardox 400/450/500, and high-hardness ballistic steels up to 80 mm thickness. Our welding procedures are qualified to AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding) and AWS D1.6 (Welding of Stainless Steel), with ISO 3834-2 certification for full quality control traceability.

Every weldment undergoes 100% NDT inspection — ultrasonic testing (UT) for volumetric defects, magnetic particle testing (MT) for surface cracks, and visual inspection (VT) per AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria. We provide full documentation including WPS, PQR, welder certifications, and NDT reports with every shipment.

AWS & ISO Dual-Certified Welding

All welding procedures are qualified under AWS D1.1 / D1.6 and ISO 3834-2. Our welders hold current AWS certification with annual recertification. Process documentation is available for customer audit at any time.

Pre-Heating & Interpass Control

For high-hardness armor steels (AR500+), we implement controlled pre-heating (150-250°C depending on grade), interpass temperature monitoring, and post-weld hydrogen bake-out to eliminate cold cracking and HAZ embrittlement.

100% Non-Destructive Testing

Every weld is inspected using ultrasonic testing (UT) for internal defects, magnetic particle (MT) for surface cracks, and visual inspection (VT) with digital documentation. Rejection rate target is < 0.5%.

Robotic & Manual Hybrid Shop

12 robotic welding cells handle repeatable seams with ±0.1mm positional accuracy, while 8 manual stations provide flexibility for complex geometries and field repair welding. This hybrid model optimizes both quality and lead time.

Full Material Traceability

Each weldment is tracked via serial number to its mill test report (MTR), weld procedure (WPS), welder (WPQ), and NDT inspection record. Complete documentation package ships with every order.

Distortion Control Expertise

Proprietary sequencing and fixturing techniques minimize thermal distortion in large armor weldments. Post-weld stress relief and dimensional verification ensure finished parts meet drawing tolerances of ±1 mm over 3 meters.
